Maria and Stans weddings was one of those very special days and as a wedding photographer it was a day that I will remember for a long time. Maria and Stan were joyous on their wedding day but it just wasn't their love for each other that made the day different from most weddings it was the love of their family and friends, the community that enveloped them that made the atmosphere palpable. Maria's brother and his wife demonstrated their love in ensuring that every small detail in Maria getting ready was perfect, they opened their home to family with endless coffee, cake and hot food as Maria's extended family eagerly awaited to see Maria in her dress before departing to the church, tears were shed when she emerged looking radiant. Stan's sister arrived with a gift of a crucifix for Maria to wear from her new family a gesture of welcome and a gift that will be treasured for ever. The ceremony held at the Greek Orthodox Church in Kogarah was a moving ceremony steeped in ritual and tradition with the joining of hands and the crowning. Maria and Stan's marriage was the uniting of two families, both sides elated that they they had fallen for each other. The evening was celebrated with a six course meal and a long night of drinking & dancing at the Venus lounge.
Thank you Maria and Stan for having me as part of your special day, you were epic despite the freezing cold overcast weather, you never complained once. Stan you made me well up in tears all day with the way you looked at Maria. You guys are the best! Thank you to my second Trudy you are amazing, it was great to have you there on the day (images of Trudys are included below)
Maria did express one regret in marrying Stan - giving up her big fat greek surname that she loves "Anagnostopoulos" yes everyone thats 15 letters, try fitting that into those squares they give you on a tax declaration form or passport application.
